Wilco loves us, baby!

I went to see one of my very favourite artists (for the second time) at the Royal Theatre on Friday night: Wilco. And yes, to paraphrase 'Wilco (the song)', Wilco did love me, baby: well over two hours, two encores, a total of 26 songs. As my buddy Malcolm said, they played hard and they played their hearts out. It was absolutely epic, a masterpiece of a show. Caitlin said it was the best show she's ever seen and that if they weren't already, they are now definitely her favourite band ever (it was her first Wilco show)--an excellent choice. We met five of the six band members after the show, all of whom were really cool guys and each of whom took some time to chat with us. We even scored some autographs on our CDs and Wilco (the tote). We only missed out on meeting Jeff Tweedy, who we're pretty sure disappeared right after the show.

wunderkind Nels Cline:

If Wilco comes anywhere near your hometown take some time to check them out. You won't find a tighter band around! Can't wait until next time!

Actually I don't think the term "wunderkind" really applies to Nels, since he's in his 50s.
