this morning's bus trip

A funny thing happened to me on the bus trip to school this morning. I was sitting quietly, listening to my iPod with my pack and lunch on my lap and my mug of tea in my hand. The bus stopped to pick up some more people and onto the bus climbed a slightly bigger girl. As she came walking down the aisle, she was almost to me when the bus driver accelerated rather quickly, causing her to lose her balance. She was tumbling towards me (it was happening in slow motion, to me) when she managed to catch herself on a pole. I breathed a sigh of relief because I was happy to not have to play the role of Santa for this girl. As I was exhaling however, the motion of her grabbing the pole caused her purse to whip around in an arc at 74 m.p.h. and smoke me full in the face! It stung quite a lot and it smushed my large nose to my face in a manner that was not altogether comfortable. It was like something out of a National Lampoon movie. Oh, the always-interesting life of a librarian-in-training!

You know how some people use Internet shorthand and type lol for ‘laugh out loud’?

I cant do that. It wouldn’t do it justice. I actually just laughed OUT LOUD. By myself. In my apartment. For a good two minutes before I could bring myself to type this. Yes, I’m still chuckling.

I’m sorry to laugh at your misfortune Matt. But your description of the incident was fantastic. Great mental imagery!

I'm at school, supposedly working hard on my thesis project, when your little bus incident causes me to giggle loudly. Now everyone knows I'm really just goofing off. I'm not sorry though, that was a damn funny story!
Hope your nose is recovering well.
