Pitchforkmedia.com

I enjoy reading the music reviews posted over at pitchforkmedia.com. They are often thoughtful, engaging, and very, very funny. My issue is this: the only albums that ever seem to get good reviews are indie records made by Dutch siamese-twin anarchists who play the xylophone and bassoon. If you have an even remotely traditional, mainstream sound, you can forget a positive review on pitchforkmedia.com. U2 and Pearl Jam get slammed on this site, no matter what they do. For the most part, same goes for R.E.M. The only bands that I love that seems to get universally positive reviews on pitchforkmedia.com are Wilco and Radiohead, the reason being that they are so damn weird! I wish that indie-rock snobbery was less prevalent on this site (and in general) because having songs with hooks, traditional instrumentation and big guitars doesn't automatically mean that a band sucks. Still, check the site out because it is pretty funny to read how big alt-rock bands get slammed by the site's reviewers' finely honed sarcasm. That being said, my reviews are better.
