running frustrations
Most people who know me are aware of the fact that I love to run. The problem is that I have a weak hip flexor and thus a muscle in my knee overcompensates for the weakness and produces a sharp pain. I am going to the gym to strengthen it but it is still so frustrating to go from routinely dropping 10-15 kilometres without thinking to having to mix running and walking to get through under 3 kilometres before the pain in the outside of my left knee is too much to handle. Sometimes I really just wish that things could be easier. I have vowed to finish the Times Colonist 10K in under 40 minutes, but if my gym visits don't begin to pay off soon it is not looking likely. It is difficult to have a positive attitude about it, but I know that being pissy won't help me. The saga continues...

Dude. I've found in years past that the easiest way to finish the TC 10K under 40 is with the help of what's called an "automobile." I've also heard using a "bicycle" can make a large difference. There's a lot of people to dodge using either of these methods, and there are stories of TC marshall's getting pretty upset, but I find it much much, much easier on the hip flexors.
