Review: Wilco--Kicking Television (Live in Chicago)

Recorded over a few nights at the Vic Theatre in Chicago earlier this year, all I can say about this live album is OH YEAH! Wilco confirms their collective genius with this live set drawn heavily from Yankee Hotel Foxtrot and A Ghost is Born. They sound tight and it is obvious that Jeff Tweedy, Wilco's fearless leader/visionary is in his element throughout this disc. "Via Chicago" and "Shot in the Arm" from Summerteeth sound trandscendant and, in my opinion, the rest is just as good. Wilco are being called 'America's best band' these days and this show confirms what all the fuss is about. Rating: A.

At this very moment I'm drinking a Granville Island Winter Ale. It is a beautiful thing. Thanks for the tip.
