Today, Caitlin and I finally amalgamated our two filing systems into one Filing System of Righteous Awesomeness. It was boring. I realized that society throws so much paper at us and it accumulates incredibly quickly. The annoying thing is that we often need to hold on to much of it because it is important. I was advised that it is advisable to keep seven years of bank statements in case you get audited. That is a lot of paper and that's just for a bank account. Then there's credit card statements, phone bills, medical records, automobile records--the list goes on and on. It took us a couple hours, at least, to go through our separate files and straighten them out into the aforementioned Filing System of Righteous Awesomeness, but it was definitely worth the feeling of accomplishment and further organization (a librarian's dream!).
If you are avoiding dealing with a big pile of paper that needs to be organized and filed, get in contact with me and I will walk/talk you through it--it really isn't as bad as it looks and you end up spending more time looking for ways to avoid it than the time it would take to just plow though it. Take it from me, a maestro of procrastination, it's better to just get it over with! Just another friendly leg-up from the Renegade Librarian.

I really like any sentence that starts with `I was advised that it is advisable...`
Ways to reduce paper:
1. Move your account from Royal Bank to Vancity. For your checking, savings and US checking, this will save 5 sheets of paper + 2 envelopes every month.
2. Better yet, shift to online statements and billing.
