good news for the Dynasty

Word, y'all! Yer man is trudging dutifully toward the end of the semester adn things are going very well for me. I have been told to submit a proposal to the Canadian Library Association to present some work I am doing for one of my classes and also I have been told to get my (soon-to-be-written) paper published on this same work. A classmate also nominated me for my faculty's "Spirit of Librarianship" award, which is voted on by my peers. There are 10 nominees (out of about 150 students) and the award will go to whoever the students vote on as the person who best embodies the ideals of the profession, is most helpful to his/her peers, and displays the best attitude.

I have been reading snippets of Chuck Klosterman's A Decade of Curious People and Dangerous Ideas and the music commentary is both insightful and hilarious, even if I do not always agree with his opinions. I love witty music journalism and Klosterman is always hilarious, especially when he fully admits that Kiss is his favourite band (and he's dead serious!). His piece in the book on Britney Spears is spot-on brilliant.

Lately in the CD player/on the iPod:

Skin and Bones--The Foo Fighters

Being There--Wilco

Hail to the Thief--Radiohead

Children Running Through--Patty Griffin

Life Short, Call Now--Bruce Cockburn

Live at the New Amsterdam--Counting Crows

Class finishes on April 13th, after which I will be chillin' like a villain until my final semester begins on May 7th. Peace...

Great news Matty. I'll be eager to hear how all that goes and hopefully I'll have a copy of the Librarian Geek Periodical or whatever they call it on my shelf with your article within. Seriously, I am very proud of you friend.

And I hope you win that award, cause you deserve it. I would be surprised to hear you have the best attitude out of a group of people (you never ending pessimist) but if any group then it would probably be a bunch of librarians cause you must bring so much humour to their life.

Bing for King!
