I have had the opportunity lately to listen to some great music while studying and currently my favourites are:
The Tragically Hip--World Container: what a phenomenal piece of work by these guys. I love the Hip alot and this album really is excellent, musically and lyrically. Seeing some of the music played live last week when the Hip rocked the Labatt Centre has just caused me to listen to this disc ever more than I already was. Sweet, sweet CanRock!
Patty Griffin--Children Running Through: Buy it, spin it, love it! What a beautiful album. That being said, is Patty Griffin capable of making a poor album? Probably not.
Norah Jones--Not Too Late: I would say this is her best album, more varied and experimental than her two previous efforts. The anti-Bush song, "My Dear Country", is menacing in its calm dissection of Dubya's idiocy. And that voice of hers...I could listen to her sing forever. So lovely...

yep, definitely enjoying that Hip album as well. Ahhh, the Hip. They are so much bigger over there than they are here, and I love Ontario for it.
