changes...

The change is this: I am getting fat! I should qualify this statement by saying that my belly is getting fat, the rest of me is staying the same. However, for someone who has barely ever had a spare inch on him, this is a surprising and slightly discouraging development. It's not that I eat poorly or in excess--actually, I don't have a particulary huge appetite so overeating isn't really an option. My wife and I eat reasonably healthy food as well. The big problem is that as an overly busy graduate student, I spend most of my time sitting around while I study/do assignments and it leaves very time for exercise. I also have all the biomechanical problems right now that make running a no-go until I address them. It's pretty funny to see my belly because it has never looked like this before, but it makes me glad that I am not back in Victoria because I can only imagine the fuss that certain people would make upon seeing this Chunky Monkey. On my semester break, it's time to get my lazy butt in gear!

Oh-ho! I knew something like this would hapen to you one day, Matty boy. Don't worry. The very same "surprising and slightly discouraging" moment came upon me all the way back in grade 12, and as far as I can tell, I'm still foxy today. You too will prevail. That said, you might try some frickin' sit-ups!

It's cause you're married big boy! That's what happens to all of us once we join the Fellowship of the Ring. That women get us locked down and then keep us down by building us up, as in our weight, not our esteem.

I too am hitting all time highs everyday for weight and pudge levels. Well, I was slightly pudgy back in my pre and early teens, but I was shorter then.

My motto: drink less beer and have less cheer. Drink more beer and the end is near.

i fully agree with andy - its part of the mystery of marriage. once that ring is on your finger it all just goes straight to your waist...

in the words of scott alexander:
"a fat cat is a happy cat."
