through the headphones

I have been going back to listening to music through my headphones more recently and have really been enjoying it. I often don't have that much time to just sit and listen to music without doing something else at the same time such as cleaning or other things that need my attention. But then my sister bequeathed upon me a decent set of Sony headphones (not James Kingsley calibre, obviously) and so I started to once again listen through cans, much like I did when I first began to discover the joys of great rock music. I was again struck by how much more you here when music is coming through headphones. I was listening to Wilco's 'Kicking Television' album and I heard things I had not previously picked up on, though I have listened to it on my stereo numerous times. There are many intricacies to begin with in Wilco's music and they became increasingly apparent as I spent more time listening. I then threw in 'Exile on Main Street' and 'Lions' by the Black Crowes and I loved the roar of the guitars and the power of Charlie Watts' kick drum pounding in my ears. I am surely going to make a practice of listening through headphones more often! Rock on my peeps...

Hey Matt, got your comment on my 'oh, diana' post. Maybe some of your oh so fabulous reviewing has rubbed off on me--I can only hope! As for putting a link on your blog, thanks! And I hope you don't mind that I did the same thing...
Saw you at James' chitchat the other night, but didn't get a chance to say hello. I'd love to sit down with you and Caitlin in the cafe sometime and get to know you guys better. Come to think of it, I don't think I've actually ever met Caitlin--maybe we should start there!

oh Matty, you'll ruin your hearing... you'll not only be decrepit by the age of 40, but you'll also be deaf.
