Girl from the North Country

I recently acquired a copy of 'The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan' and was completely moved by his song "Girl from the North Country". I heard a musician by the name of Jason Harrod cover this song at a friend's wedding reception and was struck by what a beautiful melody it was. Dylan fingerpicks his accompaniment on the acoustic guitar and sings of a girl who was once his true love. I was overwhelmed with emotion as I listened and have subsequently listened to it many times since. By the way, the rest of the album was, of course, amazing, the template for all the great confessional singer-songwriter albums that followed it.

Dylan's second album is probably up there as my favorite, if not only for "Don't Think Twice, It's Alright:" arguably the most beautiful song ever written. It might even edge out Moon River for that title...
